Fayetteville Police K9 Memorial

On May 15, 2017,during the Annual Police Week, the current Fayetteville PD K9 team honored the past FayPD K9s that have served this department and community. The statue depicts a handsome and poised German Shepherd, who keeps a watchful eye on everyone. While the statue is a representation of all police k9s, it was inspired by a specific dog – retired K9 Brit.

Lena met K9 Brit in 2013, when she attended her SOF K9 Memorial dedication at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, NC. Brit was one of many police and military dogs who showed up to pay their respects to the fallen K9s. Years later, Lena chose the likeness of K9 Brit as a perfect example of brave and well trained police dogs, whom we can see every day patrolling the streets and finding bad guys.

Looking a little bit older and slower, Brit came to the statue unveiling. He was still the same handsome and faithful K9 who stole Lena’s heart years ago.

This K9 Memorial will honor all the K9 handlers and K9s that have put their lives on the line every day. Our sincere gratitude to Fayetteville Police Foundation and generous donors who made this possible.
