Indy the Reading Dog

He was a the sweetest, kindest, gentlest soul and my heart. He earned his therapy dog certification through Therapy Dog International when he was just 13 months old and continued to serve as a therapy dog at nursing homes and the library up until his passing. He was a tail waggin’ tutor dog at the Bellingham Public Library for over 4 years and listened to over 100 young readers read their book aloud on Monday nights. He loved kids so very much and it’s so fitting that Lena’s statue now “lives” in the children’s room of the library so young readers can continue reading to their favorite sheltie. When he wasn’t volunteering as a therapy dog, Indy LOVED agility and earned his MACh (AKC agility championship), NATCH and V-NATCH (NADAC agility championships) along with his Nose Work 1 title. He truly was the best dog I could ever have asked for”  ~ Leah Porfido Caracino
