SAR K9 Bretagne Bronze Portrait Statue
Bretagne, a beautiful Golden Retriever and lifelong Fairfield resident, lived and loved her life of selfless service to her community, state and nation. She was a member of the CY-Fair Volunteer Fire Department and Texas task Force One.
Bretagne was the last surviving disaster search dog who searched tirelessly for survivors at the World Trade Center in New York following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Bretagne and her handler, Denise Corliss, deployed to numerous hurricanes, floods, and other search missions. Bretagne retired in 2009 to serve again as a “reading dog”, giving her the opportunity to help first graders to improve their reading skills. Bretagne’s years of service and love for others remind all of us how to live our best possible lives. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on through those who serve.
